Beverly Hills City to Begin Process of Public Outreach on Gehry Project
Posted on July 26th, 2016
The City of Beverly Hills City Council is set to consider a project by developer Tyler Siegal. The project encompasses the last underdeveloped City property of 6.5% acres located on Foothill Drive at Third Street. The project was proposed by iconic architect Frank Gehry who brought his proposal to the City Council last year. The Council is now prepared to start the public process which will examine this and other potential uses for the property. The first phase will use a virtual web-based portal which will allow community members to share their visions for the property. There will be a paper survey as well. The City Council will also set City-wide community meetings which will present the Gehry proposal and invite input. There will be multiple meetings and designed to encourage small group discussions. The project proposed by Tyler Siegal and Frank Gehry is a mixed-use hotel and office with an attached park. The developers would lease the land from the City of Beverly Hills for a period of 99 years. Other proposals include using the land for a City-owned park in the same vein as Roxbury or La Cienega. The major, John Mirisch, is a proponent of the park concept.
